support the Libyan revolution! Via Gaddafi!
release of the Executive Bureau of the Fourth International on the revolutionary process in Libya
The shock wave of revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt continues to expand across the Arab world and beyond. For several days is the center of the Libyan revolutionary upheaval. The events are evolving day after day, hour after hour, but now everything depends on the extraordinary mobilization of the Libyan people. Hundreds of thousands of Libyans were launched, often with bare hands, the attack on the dictatorship of Gaddafi. Entire cities, entire regions have fallen into the hands of insurgents. The response of the dictatorship was merciless: ruthless repression, massacres, bombings on the population with heavy weapons and air strikes. Today we face a battle to the death between the people and dictatorship. One of the characteristics of the Libyan revolution, in relation to the revolutions in Egypt and Tunisia, is the division of the military and police. There are internal conflicts that the army, a territorial division marked by clashes between the regions and cities go to the insurgents and the area Tripoli under the control of the military dictatorship. The Libyan dictatorship is too much injustice and social democratic, repression, attacks on freedom and basic rights. It must be hunted.
The Libyan revolution is part of an overall process that applies throughout the Arab world and beyond, reaching as far as Iran and China. The revolutionary process in Tunisia and Egypt are being radicalized. In Tunisia the governments fell one after another. The movement of young people and the workers are pushing even further. All forms of continuity with the old regime are called into question. The demand for a constituent assembly, as opposed to any recovery of the system, is becoming stronger. In both countries, Tunisia and Egypt, the movement of workers are being reorganized with the launch of a wave of strikes for the vindication of the basic social needs. This revolutionary rebellion takes many forms and details, depending on the country: violent clashes in Yemen and Bahrain, events in Jordan, Morocco and Algeria. Iran is once again traversed by struggles and demonstrations for democracy and against Ahmadinejad's regime.
In this context, the situation in Libya is of strategic importance. This new uprising already brings historical changes, but its development may depend on the battle in Libya. If Gaddafi takes over control of the situation, with thousands of deaths, the process will be slowed, or even blocked content. But if Gaddafi will be overthrown as a result it will benefit the entire movement and will be amplified. For this reason, all the ruling classes, all governments, all the reactionary regimes of the Arab world are more or less supporting the Libyan dictatorship.
Also in this context, the U.S. imperialism, the European Union and NATO are increasing operations to try to control the process in action. The revolutions in progress weaken, beyond stating what the imperialists in their speeches, the positions of Western imperialism. So, as often happens, imperialism uses the pretext the "chaotic situation" as they call it, or the "humanitarian catastrophe" to prepare an operation and return control of the situation. Nobody should be fooled by the intentions of the NATO forces: they want to remove from the hands of local revolutions in progress and exploit the situation to occupy new positions, especially regarding the control of oil regions. For this basic reason it is necessary to reject any military intervention of U.S. imperialism.
is for the Libyan people, who started the work to finish, with the help of local people and all progressive forces at the international level must contribute their solidarity and their support.
From this point of view, we totally disagree with the positions taken by Hugo Chavez, Daniel Ortega and Fidel Castro. Fidel Castro denounced the risk of an intervention of U.S. imperialism instead of supporting the struggle of the Libyan people. Same for Hugo Chavez, who has confirmed his support for the dictator Gaddafi. These positions are unacceptable to the revolutionary forces and progressive anti-imperialist in the world. We oppose imperialism by supporting dictators who massacred their people in revolt. This can only strengthen imperialism. A fundamental task of the revolutionary movement internationally is to defend this revolution and to oppose imperialism by supporting them, not dictators.
We are on the side of the Libyan people and the Arab revolution in progress. We must express our unconditional solidarity, civil rights, social and democratic rights that are emerging in this revolution. One priority is to provide all aid to the Libyan population - medical aid coming from Egypt or Tunisia, food aid needed - calling for the abolition of all trade agreements with Libya and the suspension of arms sales. We must prevent the massacre of the Libyan people.
Solidarity with the Arab revolution!
We support the Libyan people!
No imperialist intervention!
Hands Off Libya!
